ROLLON
TB SLIDEWAY is a high performance engineering thermoplastic
material consisting of PTFE and sintered bronze
along with special wear resistant additives.
It
is a self-lubricating wear resistant material suitable
for operating temperatures upto 2600 C.
It
is used on machine tool transfer lines or machine
tool guideways or any linear movement applications,
to avoid metal to metal sliding contact where reduced
friction & wear resistance are critical design
considerations. |

| |
Due to the
specific properties of the bearing material, the use of
ROLLON TB SLIDEWAY gives the following advantages over other
metallic or non-metallic linear bearing systems: |
Low friction
without stick-slip, a requirement for positional accuracy at
differenct
velocities specially at low speed. |
Excellent
vibration damping characteristic in spite of low
co-efficient of |
friction |
High wear
resistance machine tools work more accurately for longer
periods |
of time and
service intervals are extended. |
High chemical
resistance to coolants and lubricants. |
Excellent
mechanical properties and dimensional stability. |
Advantage of
embedding foreign particles. |
It can run dry
without damaging the mating slide. |
High positional
accuracy and repeatability. |
High performance
over many years. |
No swelling of
the bearing material. |
Low product
cost. |
Simple and easy
installation. |

Manufacturing of
ROLLON TB SLIDEWAY established from technical know-how and
support received from BUSAK + SHAMBAN USA / GERMANY over several
years. |
SKIVING :
Billets are skived to the required
thickness in the state of the art, CNC SKIVING MACHINE which
ensures uniform & consistent thickness with very close
tolerances. |
ETCHING PLANT :
In order to achieve perfect bonding
of the skived material , the interface materials is chemically
etched on one surface of the material. The chemical etching on one surface
ensures perfect bonding. Rollon provides the Industry's highest
quality etched surface for superior bonding characteristics.
TESTING :
Rollon tests the
skived tape of every billet for co. efficient of friction and
wear, both in lubricated and dry conditions to ensure conformity
and very high quality of
ROLLON TB SLIDEWAY
MATERIAL. |
TENSILE STRENGTH :
We also have in our inspection lab,
tensile testing machine enabling us to conduct necessary test
every skived sheet. These tests are conducted as per ASTM
D1457. |
SLITTING MACHINE :
Specialized equipment has been
installed to cut different sizes of strips from ROLLON TB
SLIDEWAY
material as per customer's specific requirements. |
| |
CORRECT SURFACE FINISH :
Metal surface finish suitable for bonding
with |
ROLLON TB
SLIDEWAY should not
be less
than 1.0μM or greater than 3.2μM to ensure the maximum
possible bond strength. |
CLEANING THE METAL MATING SURFACE :
A
through cleaning of the
surface is vital
to ensure proper bonding. The cleaning solution may be
acetone or trichloroethylene or perchloroetylene. Use of any other
degreasers, petrol and thinner is not recommended. |
CLEANING OF ROLLON
TB SLIDEWAY :
The etched SLIDEWAY surface |
identified by dark colour must also be
cleaned prior to bonding. |
PREPARATION OF ADHESIVES :
For bonding of
ROLLON TB SLIDEWAY |
the recommended resin / adhesive
is CIBA GEIGY'S araldite AW106 & hardener HV953U.
This should be mixed at room condition, the proportion shall
be as per the manufactures recommendations. |
BONDING : A thin even layer of mixed adhesive should be applied to |
both bonding surfaces. The stroke of spreading the adhesive over
the ROLLON TB SLIDEWAY should be in longitudinal direction,
when spreading adhesive on the metal-brush in transverse
direction. Total quantity of adhesive required for bonding
is appx 200 Gms/SQ mtr |
FINAL MACHINING :
After
complete cure of the adhesive bonded |
ROLLON TB
SLIDEWAY can be
finished by hand scraping, milling or grinding. |
MACHINING OIL GROOVES :
ROLLON TB
SLIDEWAY
can be |
machined
to incorporate oil
or lubrication groove patterns . It is best to mill the oil
grooves into the material to a depth of 50-70% of material
thickness |
METAL MATING SURFACE FINISH : The mating surface should be |
finished to 0.4μM for best
performance. The surface finish should no be less than 0.3μM
or greater than 0.5 μM |

Rollon-TB SLIDEWAY has exceptional wear and abrasion resistance,
and exhibits low sliding friction, Rollon TB SLIDEWAY is
treated, making it suitable for bonding to a metallic
substratum. It is unaffected by nearly all chemicals, except
strong acids or oxidizers. These properties make self-lubricated
Rollon TB SLIDEWAY exceptionally well-suited for use as a linear
bearing. |
